3800 KM !!! That's the distance we drove in two weeks. From Mexico City to Mexico City through Puebla, Veracruz, Villahermosa, Palenque, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Tuxla Gutierez, Salina Cruz, Huatulco, Mazunte, Oaxaca... Names that bring back thoughts and memories of films, scenes, adventures... We finally made it into Chiapas. During our first "attempt" two years ago, we had only skirted the Chiapas region, driving along its borders before crossing the Sierra Madre de Chiapas onto the Pacific Coast. But this time we went deep inside that fascinating state and enjoyed what remains of the beautiful Mayan Indian culture, the lush green jungles, high peaks (3700 meters!) before crossing once more over the Sierra Madre de Chiapas onto the beautiful virtually untouched Pacific Coast of Mexico.
