Sunday 12:

Museum of Germa and then we visit the old Medina of the Germantes Garama. Its hot! Lunch under some tall trees close to the site and then off to the road junction with the trail into the dune desert of Awbari. Impressive driving through huge sand dunes and sandy plains (the tires are purposely deflated to 40%). We visit the desert lake of Um el Ma and see women fishing for the little red worms of Dawada (they tell us off because they don’t want to be photographed). Our entire team meet up with various cousins and friends! We pick some dates at the bottom of an old oued and setup camp in the middle of the great dunes. As soon as we walk away from the campsite the silence is intense. One can get lost so easily!
